Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis believes his fellow GOP governors should begin working to remove prosecutors backed by left-wing billionaire George Soros.
In an interview with conservative journalist Benny Johnson, which was released on Monday, DeSantis suggested it is a tricky issue because not all governors possess the same power he has under Florida law.
But where they have such power, GOP governors must send a message, he said.
“If you have authority, you should just basically tell all the prosecutors, if you put yourself above the law, or you are weaponizing your office, for political reasons, we’re gonna remove you,” said DeSantis.
The governor suggested that there is an “imbalance” in the legal system in blue areas of the country. Where liberal ideology prevails, he indicated, liberals avoid tough punishment, while conservatives who venture there are treated more harshly.
